MISAU became aware of the concern that citizens who present themselves as masked on the public road and, in other cases, live in a confinement regime, are causing within Mozambican society.

Thus, MISAU clarifies to all Mozambican society that:

  1. The Health Surveillance System in Mozambique is on high alert and all citizens traveling to Mozambique from affected countries are rigorously assessed by health authorities at the main points of entry, and so far no case of Coronavirus has been diagnosed in the country;
  2. Internationally, home self-quarantine has been practiced for 14 days and the use of masks;
  3. In China, for example, wearing masks is a cultural practice even in the absence of epidemics;
  4. Still in China, the Government has reinforced the need for strict compliance with these measures by all national travelers;
  5. Chinese citizens sighted wearing masks and quarantined in the city of Maputo are complying with one of the recommendations of their country of origin, as part of the global efforts to fight Coronavirus; and
  6. So far there are no cases of Coronavirus in Mozambique.

MISAU takes this opportunity to appeal to Mozambican society to continue to collaborate with health authorities and to share official information issued by MISAU.

To citizens who have recently been in the affected countries and who show symptoms that indicate Coronavirus, MISAU recommends that they go to the Health Units (US) to be evaluated by the medical teams in service, and that they comply with the following guidelines:

➡ Use a mask or handkerchief to cover your mouth and nose;

➡ All family members and close people must follow basic hygiene measures, such as:
